This Instructor Spotlight installment features Dr. Kevin Richards
Dr. Richards is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures. His areas of expertise include German Genre and Culture Studies, Language Learning Technology, and Online Course Development. He has recently taught the GE courses The Grimms Fairy Tales and their Afterlives (Foundation: Literary), German Science Fiction (Foundation: Literary), The Holocaust in Literature and Film (Theme: Citizenship), and Hollywood: Exiles and Emigres (Foundation: Literary). He is currently developing the GE course Citizenship in the Age of Technology (Theme: Citizenship), as well as the CLLC course Virtual Reality in the Language Classroom.
In this interview, Dr. Richards talks about his experiences with encouraging student engagement in online courses, innovations in assignments and assessments, and integrations of emerging technologies including Virtual Reality and AI, as well as his vision for the future of distance learning.
