Accessible Expressions Ohio Virtual Tour
This virtual tour was created by instructional designer Sarah Dove using ThingLink, an educational technology tool supported by the College of Arts and Sciences Office of Distance Education (ASC ODE) at The Ohio State University. This project is the result of a collaboration between ASC ODE, the Barnett Center for Integrated Arts and Enterprise and Art Possible Ohio in order to broaden the reach of the “Accessible Expressions Ohio” (AEO) exhibition current on display in the Barnett Center Collaboratory. This exhibition will run through the end of November 2023. AEO is a regular program of Art Possible Ohio which began in 1995 in Dayton, Ohio, and has since expanded to a statewide tour of artwork by Ohio artists with disabilities. Artists of any age, living in Ohio, with a disability may enter in the Youth, Emerging, or Professional categories. AEO raises awareness by presenting the show in inclusive settings designed to change perceptions about disability. This collaboration expands on these goals by providing access to audiences that would otherwise be unable to experience the exhibition.
In-person visitors to the AEO exhibition at the Barnett Center will also be able to experience the artwork using Augmented Reality during the month of November. iPhone users can download an app on-site that will allow them to interact with the artwork in a new way as they walk through the gallery. To take advantage of this experience, stop by the Barnett Center Collaboratory during their exhibition hours. ASC ODE and Sarah would like to express gratitude to the Barnett Center for Integrated Arts and Enterprise and Art Possible Ohio for their partnership.
