UDL Guidelines 3.0 Officially Released

CAST’s Universal Design for Learning (UDL) guidelines have served as a guide for designing learning experiences that increase access and reduce barriers since their inception in 2008. Since 2020, CAST has been working on the latest iteration of the UDL guidelines, seeking to expand upon previous iterations by addressing barriers specifically rooted in biases and exclusionary systems.

The latest version, UDL Guidelines 3.0, was officially released in July 2024. Among the updates, we are particularly excited and optimistic about the heightened focused now placed on themes such as the role of joy and play in learning, cultivating empathy, supporting multi-lingual and multi-cultural perspectives, and addressing multiple forms of biases.
